Nwifuru Pledges Free, Fair 2027 Elections, Backs Tinubu’s Re-election

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has assured residents that he will not impose any candidate in the 2027 general elections, emphasizing his commitment to a transparent and inclusive electoral process.
The governor made this known in a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, where he stressed that all aspirants would be given a level playing field to pursue their political ambitions.
Nwifuru, however, reaffirmed his support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, stating that the president has shown significant commitment and support to Ebonyi State.
“I have not made up my mind to support anybody except President Bola Tinubu, who has demonstrated love and support to us as a state,” he said.
The governor urged political aspirants to exercise restraint in their actions and statements, warning against conduct that could create tension within the political environment. He encouraged them to remain calm, humble, and guided by a sense of destiny.
“You can only be there when God says so. Let us be calm, let us be humble,” he advised.
Nwifuru also revealed plans to engage stakeholders across the state in a series of meetings aimed at ensuring a smooth and credible electoral process. According to him, the consultations will cover all elective positions, including the Senate, House of Representatives, State House of Assembly, and the governorship.
“We will start zonal meetings on Wednesday. It will run from Thursday to Friday, by which time I would have met with leaders across the state. We will discuss all key positions,” he explained.
He made it clear, however, that discussions on the presidential seat would not be entertained at the state level, reiterating his administration’s firm support for Tinubu.
“We will not discuss the president’s position because that is a no-go area. We have only one presidential candidate, President Bola Tinubu. He is the only president who has initiated a project here and will commission it. We are giving him our votes one hundred percent,” the governor stated.
